“Night butterfly”
Due to the war in Ukraine, I was forced to leave my native home and garden, which had long been my source of inspiration. This event became the central theme in my artwork, highlighting the emotional struggles tied to forced migration. The longing and sadness for one’s home, garden, and nature are key themes in my creations. In my art, flowers represent revival and hope for the restoration of Ukraine, a vision for a life where peace reigns and nature flourishes.
When starting a new painting, I follow my intuition, crafting the color composition, spots, and textures. Art, for me, is a game, one that offers freedom in the early stages and pleasure throughout the journey. Only later does the conscious process of constructing the composition begin, layering paint to create depth and surface richness.
In my work, color serves as the primary form of expression, while composition and textures support the entire creative process. The result is a painting that is ready to hang, with a varnished finish, capturing the essence of hope, nature, and the resilience of Ukraine in the face of adversity.
