“Among the Flowers”
Due to the war in Ukraine, I was forced to leave my beloved home and garden, which had always been my inspiration. This painful experience became the main theme of my artwork, focusing on the emotional difficulties of forced migration. Longing for one’s garden, nature, and home is the central theme in my creative process. Flowers, as symbols of revival, represent the hope for Ukraine’s restoration—a dream for a peaceful life where there are no explosions or black smoke, but instead, birds singing and blooming gardens.
When starting a new painting, I follow my intuition, allowing the creation of color compositions, spots, and textures to flow naturally. The early stages of my art are important for me to feel free and unrestricted because I see art as a playful journey leading to a final destination. Later on, the conscious construction of the composition begins, with paint applied in layers to create depth and richness.
In my works, color is the primary form of expression, like the lead “instrument” in an orchestra, while the composition and textures support the overall harmony. The painting is ready to hang and has been varnished, embodying hope, nature, and resilience.
